Junction Reads

This is a love project that started in 2014.

When I first transitioned from writing and performing comedy to writing fiction, I wanted to find a community of writers who I could talk to about new fiction. In Toronto, I used to linger at the back of The Idler, a pub that had an open mic and monthly reading series. There was also a reading series on Roncesvalles Ave. for a minute or two and of course the Rowers series was always a favourite. I wanted something in my community, so I started one.

I love poetry, but I felt there were so many series in Toronto supporting poets, I wanted to create a space for prose writers. I am also having so much fun with the Instagram Live series, The First Thirty, which is a writerly series where I, and another writer, get to have fun talking about their book and how it came to life. If you want to support any of this, please consider donating to Junction Reads.
